# Title:  AI-assisted Decision Making in Social Welfare Systems

Abstract

This seminar provides an overview of theories and recent research in the field of social welfare and explores how data science can be integrated into social welfare research. Students will gain an understanding of automated decision-making (ADM) and its multi-dimensional issues from a social science perspective. Bio 

Moon Choi is an Associate Professor and Head of KAIST Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy. She has founded and run a research group called Aging and Technology Policy Lab (http://aging.kaist.ac.kr) since 2014. Her research group focuses on examining the mechanisms of social problems related to population aging and new technologies. She provides policy analysis and recommendations on these issues to promote evidence-based policy-making. The recent research projects include artificial intelligence fairness, education and inequality issues in the era of Post-AI and developing an AI-assisted platform for community care. She serves as a consultant to the United Nations and also on the research and policy committees of Korean ministries. Prof. Choi has an Interdisciplinary training and educational background. She has earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Yonsei University and master’s and doctoral degrees in Social Welfare Policy from Seoul National University and Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Choi serves as the Science Program Chair of the 2022 World Conference of Gerontechnology and CRAFT chair of ACM FAccT Conference 2022. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing and painting.
